During our April meeting, Chris Bowers led a thought-provoking workshop on Intentional Seeing—an exploration of what sets a simple snapshot apart from a truly artistic photograph.
One of the key takeaways was the importance of slowing down. Great images aren’t rushed; they’re thoughtful and intentional. Chris encouraged us to pause before pressing the shutter, to carefully observe the scene, and to look for opportunities to evoke emotion through our images—emotion that the viewer can feel.
Following the presentation, members were invited to explore the gallery with fresh eyes, looking for art in unexpected places (while being mindful not to photograph other artists’ work).
May Photo Challenge: “Intentional Seeing – Reimagining the Ordinary”
Next month, we’re building on April’s theme with a new challenge: Intentional Seeing – Reimagining the Ordinary. If you captured something unique during the April session, we’d love for you to share it in May!
